Stuff to Check Out: Fitness Summit Edition

I’m chilling in the hotel room before the weekend festivities get rolling here in Kansas City for the Fitness Summit. Oddly enough, this weekend had 4 massive events all in different points of the United States, and I was asked to speak at 2 of them. This one won out because it’s an awesome event, and well, in all honesty they asked first, so that made it happen.

So as a result of stuff happening all weekend, I’ll keep today relatively short and just talk about some cool stuff and things you should know about.

1. Workshops

I’m looking to ramp up live workshops come the fall, but also have a few coming up in June and July that would be awesome to attend. Bonus points because the first three are all in Edmonton, which means I don’t have to deal with travel!!

June 6th is Complete Hip Training & Conditioning at SVPT Training & Athletics in Edmonton. This one-day seminar will go through the full spectrum of the hip, right from assessments through corrective sequences and in to coaching the big lifts.

Next is July 5th, featuring myself and Jim Laird, elite powerlifter and gym owner from Lexington, KY at Crossfit Lineage in Edmonton. We’ll be talking about business development, coaching concepts, and how to get the most out of your career in fitness.

JUST ANNOUNCED!! Tony Gentilcore and I are back at it with a whole new workshop. August 22-23 in Edmonton, we’re firing up our new joint venture, Total Hip & Shoulder Training. We’ll show you how we go through assessments, correctives, and coaching the two most important joints in any training program, plus peel the curtain back on how Tony looks at developing his pro baseball guys and how I assess post-rehab clients to help them get the most out of their training programs.

Tony and I are also looking to finalize dates for St. Louis, MO, Austin, TX, and Anaheim, CA in the fall as well, so stay tuned for that.

#2: The 3 Best Exercises You’re Probably Not Doing (With Research & Proof!) – Nick Johnson

You’ll probably laugh and nod along to seeing some of these exercises and how you’ve probably seen them in some version before. The delivery was awesome.

#3: Deadlift PR by a Distance Coaching Client

Nothing like seeing a client rock out a 260 kg/573 lb deadlift at a bodyweight of only 90kg. That’s good for 2.89 times bodyweight, and giving him a chance to look at competing in his first powerlifting meet this fall or winter. Way to nail it, Alex!

Have a great weekend!!
