Stuff to Check Out: Wake Me Up When September Ends Edition

It’s been cold and crappy all week in Edmonton, with temperatures just above freezing and the odd place actually getting snow.

Just a few weeks ago it was around 30 celsius, so this week has sucked. The good news, though, is I’m off to Toronto next week as Lindsay’s competing in track cycling nationals out in Milton, so if anyone’s around and wants to head to…….. Milton……. come hang out and watch people bike in circles.

Anyway, here’s some stuff.

Workshops

Complete Shoulder & Hip Blueprint – Calgary, AB, October 14-15

Complete Shoulder & Hip Blueprint with Tony Gentilcore – Boston, November 11-12

Cool Workout Products

The Single Leg Solution

Mike Robertson has put out another fantastic resource for trainers as well as general fitness enthusiasts, all on single leg training. His new product, The Single Leg Solution, goes into how and when to use single leg training effectively, as well as providing some sweet templates you can use, even if you’re not a trainer. He’s also included a bunch of fast action bonuses for a very short period of time, so jump on this while you can.

Dumbbell Domination

Jen Comas knows a few things about getting strong and fit. She also knows that not everyone has immediate access to a stacked training facility, or 2-3 hours a day to devote to their workouts (once you include travel to and from a gym, change and shower time). She’s built Dumbbell Domination, a product that only uses bodyweight and a dumbbell or two to get great, time effective workouts, with a range of experiences and goal sets. Want to lose some fat but have never touched a workout before? She’s got you covered. Want to get a higher degree of jacked-ness while crunching 80 hours a week at work?Ain’t nuthin to it.

Dumbbell Domination is on sale for only a few more days, so pick it up while it’s good and cheap.

Post Partum Corrective Exercise Specialist course

There’s only a few days left to register for this course before it gets started, so if you work with women or are a woman, this is worth the price of admission because you’ll leave with a way better understanding of pelvic floor health and training.

Other Stuff

GrowthLab’s Ultimate Guide to Working From Home

I saw this after Ramit Sethi retweeted it and wanted to share it. As someone who spends a few days a week working from home, and also working while travelling, this is a fantastic resource for anyone else who clocks in couch hours.

Podcast Episode #13: Eric Helms of 3DMJ

I’m re-sharing this because Eric recently successfully defended his PhD, so he’s DOCTOR Eric Helms now, professor of Bro-ology.

Are You Training Mobility or Just Mobilziing? – Frank Duffy via Ericcressey.com

Bingo. This was a great overview of commonly butchered concepts and techniques. Simply leaning into a stretch doesn’t give you the ability to high kick like Jean-Claude van Damme.

Why I’ve Spent $250,000 on Domain Names – Sol Orwell

Value is incredibly subjective, and while some people would be more than willing to invest half a million dollars on a tear-down house in a great neighborhood, they may be unwilling to “flip” a domain name in a similar manner for a similar or even greater return on their investment. With today’s internet marketplace being incredibly crowded, it’s occasionally beneficial to get a domain that costs a lot, but is incredibly simple to remember.

That being said, sometimes you have to go cheap. For instance, when purchasing the domain for my product Advanced Core Training, the domain www.advancedcoretraining.com was going for about $10,000, whereas www.advancedcoretrainingseminar.com was about $13. Since I had all of 2 dimes to rub together for the domain budget, I went cheap.

That’s it for today. Enjoy the rest of the week and stay warm!
