Stuff to Check Out: Complete Shoulder and Hip Blueprint

This week has been awesome so far with the fresh release of Complete Shoulder and Hip Blueprint, a joint venture between Tony Gentilcore and myself. As a result, we’ve collectively put out a TON of free content to get people excited about it, stoke some interest, and convince people it’s something awesome they should invest a few bucks in.

In today’s post I wanted to share all of the free content we’ve put out, plus a few fun bits from people who liked the series and had their own insights to provide, and also some free sneak previews of some different elements of the series. Can you say free stuff overload??

Let’s Pump the Brakes, Internet: No, Deadlifts Won’t Make Your Spine Explode, and Not Everyone Has to Do Them – Tony Gentilcore

This was an awesome retort to anyone who says deadlifts will kill your soul, or if you’re a human you need to pick up heavy weights from the floor. There’s always pros and cons, and like everything, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Shoulder Strategies and Hip Helpers Part 1 – Eric Cressey

Shoulder Strategies and Hip Helpers Part 2 – Eric Cressey

Eric brought the thunder and the lightning with this 2-part series highlighting 10 big takeaways he got from reviewing the series, and I think you’ll love the way he integrates the information with some actionable elements.

The BEST Educational Resources For Personal Trainers and Gym Owners – Mark Fisher

Admittedly, I had to lightly twist Mark’s arm into writing this as a follow-up to his amazing post of top books he felt the fitness industry professional should read. This has all of the workshops, certifications, seminars, and other resources we both feel trainers should look at when trying to get more information on how to train their clients, and also how to develop their own business acumen.

6 Essential Shoulder Insights – Nancy Newell

Nancy did an awesome job at outlining some lesser known yet still incredibly important elements to look at when assessing and developing corrective or strength training programs for athletes or general population clients alike.

Are Your Shoulders Ready To Overhead Press? – Bonvec Strength

The question is always “should you press or not,” but a more appropriate questions should be “are you physically capable of pressing to get the benefit you’re after, and are you ready to do it with the mobility and control you have at the moment?” I know, a way less sexy question, but it’s apt AF.

The Best Drills for Healthy Shoulders and a Big Bench – Strengtheory

I wrote this guest post with more of a powerlifter concept for people looking to hit big totals, but who might also get cranky shoulders from set up issues or repetitive strain considerations. Fix it up, get jacked, repeat.

Hip Variations and Why My Squat Isn’t Your Squat – Mike Reinold

Another guest post I wrote for Mike’s site, this one looks into anatomic variables and how to adjust your positioning to take advantage of natural-occurring asymmetries in structure to get your squat on.

5 Common Hip Training Mistakes – Eric Cressey

Another guest post (see why I haven’t written as much on my own site lately?) looking at some of my biggest mistakes training hips, and how you can learn from them to not repeat my failures.

Training the Overhead Athlete (And Meathead) – Mike Robertson

This guest post from Tony looks at how there can be a lot of differences in training an overhead athlete (volleyball, baseball, etc) and a meathead who just wants to get jacked, but might work in an office 40 hours a week.

3 Biggest Mistakes Trainers Make with Assessments – Dr. John Rusin

Tony wrote this piece on whether the assessment you use is directing how you design your program to see clients getting better, or whether the assessment itself is the goal.

Podcast: LeoTraining

I did a podcast interview with Joseph DeLeo, and we talked about all things hip, structural variations, how it affects different athletes, and how someone in a bilaterally symmetric sport like rowing with double oars can have one-sided injury patterns.

Vigor Ground Podcast – Luka Hocevar

Luka hosted us at his facility just outside of Seattle for our workshop back in April, so it was a definite pleasure to sit down and chat with him for a few minutes and talk shop afterwards.

Physical Preparation Podcast: Mike Robertson

Mike asked me questions about hip anatomy and training. I asked Mike about hair grooming and style tips. Hilarity ensues.

Some free video Sneak-Peeks

Here’s about an hour of collective video from the workshop. Enjoy!

This is just a cool story with only a small tangent to Complete Shoulder and Hip Blueprint, and let’s you know how far of an influence you can have with something like this.

If you want to pick up your own copy of Complete Shoulder and Hip Blueprint, there’s only a few hours left to pick it up at the introductory pricing and save $60 off the price that it will be bumped up to for next week.
