Last Minute Christmas Shopping List
With Christmas about 12 days away, it’s high time you stopped checking Facebook and started tackling that Christmas list you’ve been meaning to get through. But who wants to go slogging through a crowded mall parking lot, deal with caffeinated teenagers seniors with scooters running over your toes and sales people desperately in need of a day off? Not to mention the odd chance of being stabbed, tased, shot or pummelled for laying a hand on the last Beanie Baby or whatever the hell kids are into these days.

A Curious Man: The Strange and Brilliant Life of Robert “Believe it or Not” Ripley
This book is on Amazon’s top 100 books list, and for good reason. I love reading biographies of people who have lead incredible lives (I recently finished one on Galen of Medici, one of the founding philosophers and practitioners of medicine in its current incarnation), and this is right up there in terms of someone who has lead an amazing life. “Ripley’s Believe it or Not” was just the tipping point for a very skilled cartoonist, radio announcer (before televisions existed), and a host of other things to go along the way.

Lindsay just got one of these to replace an old Lulu Lemon bag she’s had for a couple of years, and I’m seriously contemplating upgrading my bag. It’s got a lot of awesome qualities to it, from padded laptop compartment to durable build, even with a mesh water bottle holder, it comes in different sizes and has different features, could double as carry-on luggage, or just make a weekend trip easier to bear.
Sweetened with Stevia, loaded with fiber and quality protein, these bars taste like actual food instead of the chalky residue most protein bars that are somewhat healthy tend to taste like. Protein bars tend to be in one of two schools: a candy bar with an extra scoop of whey protein mixed in, or something healthy that even your dog wouldn’t want to take a bite out of. I have a thing about paying for a workout when I travel: I don’t. If I go to Vegas and want to get a workout in without leaving the hotel, the crappy gym drop in typically costs $20 or more. Recognizing and Treating Breathing Disorders: A Multidisciplinary Approach
This is brand new and I’m really excited to check it out, but then again I’m a nerd who likes to talk about breathing patterns and stuff like that.
I’m also a numbers and data geek, which means this is something I’m definitely looking to check out and test when it comes in. The premise is that it’s a wearable force plate, allowing you to accurately measure your reps, weight moved, rep velocity, recovery, peak power output, path of motion, and a bunch of other really cool features, all from a simple arm band synced to your phone. You can download all the data and even get competitive with your friends and workout partners in a way that isn’t just about the weight being moved, but how you move it.
