There’s a few things in life as confusing as supplements. With so many different manufacturers looking to get the most impact and in-your-face claims saying you can get your gains 1702% faster/better/awesomer than whatever they were comparing it to before, it’s hard to separate the facts from the fallacies.
In many cases the supplements tend to make up their own science, re-create anatomy in some weird Frankenshite creation that sounds good on paper and winds up making your stomach ache for a week on end.
“Extreme vasodilation pump enhancer with extended cell-mediating release nanotechnology.”
The alternative is scouring through the thousands of conflicting nutritional studies that analyze when, where, what, and how each supplement can or can’t be used.
The other option is let someone else sift through it all and put together some kind of resource that give the straight goods without the marketing pump, and puts it in terms that everyone can understand and utilize.
Such a wonderful thing exists.
You remember Sol Orwell and Kurtis Frank right? They wrote some epic guest posts for me here, detailing benefits (both given and hidden) for creatine, whey protein, and vitamin D. They run a very popular website on supplements and the research behind them called Examine.com. Well, they released a pretty cool little resource today, and I wanted to tell you about it.
They’ve compiled the official Examine.com Supplements-Goals Reference Guide. Think of a cookbook where you can flip through to find different recipes for chicken or beef or something like that. This guide gives you the ability to search through by over 300 different supplements, over 180 different health goals (gain muscle, lose body fat, fight depression, reduce inflammation, fight He-Man), and they’ve all been categorized after sifting through over 1900 human studies.
Want to know how beneficial this resource is? Let’s say you have some achy muscles from extreme workouts and want to know whether taking glutamine will help you out. You can quickly look up the fact that glutamine is a $600,000,000 cash cow of the supplement industry that doesn’t do a single thing beneficial for muscle soreness.
Maybe you’re fighting some elevated glucose and don’t want to get put on one of the zombie meds the GP’s tend to put people on. Why not try some creatine? It’s been shown to assist in regulating blood glucose levels, help build lean muscle mass that can help utilize more glucose, and can help protect your brain cells all at the same time.
Now if you’re someone who is willing to continue shelling out $20-50 a month for glutamine, now knowing that it’s not shown much if any benefit in any research study involving humans (which I’m hoping you are), I’m sure you won’t find any benefit to a book that will show you what the entire body of research says about specific nutrients, and also what specific nutrients and supplements can help you in your specific goals without the marketing hype.
This resource is over 750 pages (750 PAGES!!!!!!) and will help you cut the crap out of the majority of marketing BS and understand what the supplements can actually do. On top of that, if you have specific goals (reduce depression, blood pressure, diabetes, skin quality, erections, and many more), you can save a tonne of time and go straight to the source to figure out what will work and what won’t.
This is something that is going to be beneficial for trainers, medical professionals, fitness enthusiasts, fitness rookies, your grandmother, your drunk uncle Lou, and everyone in between.
And it’s only $29.
You’ll pay three times that much for this kind of a book in a book store, which won’t cover nearly as much in terms of research studies, secondary benefits, and specific health concerns. Essentially for the cost of your morning latte for a single week, you can find out what all that caffeine is actually doing to your ability to burn fat, stack on muscle, and fight off stress and kidney disorders.
This is pretty much a no-brainer. If you’ve ever used supplements of any kind, had any interest in using any kind of supplements, or are wondering about what would help a specific issue you’ve been dealing with, you should totally get this resource. There’s a Money-Back guarantee if you’re not happy (you won’t not be happy), and if you’re not blown away from everything Sol and Kurtis have done, I’d be incredibly disheartened and probably wind up crying in the corner while hugging my knees and rocking slowly in the fetal position.
