Two Big Upcoming Events

So rather than leave everyone in suspense trying to wade through a tedious story or six before getting the discussing the events in the title, I figured I’d just dive right in to it.

April 1st: Foam Rolling. Talisman Centre, Calgary, AB

This seminar will show you why you’re rolling all wrong. Not only will I go through the anatomical and physiological mechanisms for why foam rolling hurts like a mother and why  it can make you instantly more mobile, fluid, and likeable to everyone you meet, I’ll also go through about 513 different ways of using a roller for everything from rehab to pre-hab to advanced athletic conditioning and everything in between. Additionally, the good folks at Travel Roller have been kind enough to supply enough rollers to make the event a fun-filled extravaganza of epic proportions!!

This workshop will cover:

  • Anatomy and physiology of fascia
  • Joint and tendon receptors, and the nervous systems role in why muscles get “tight.”
  • How to design programs effectively to get the most bang for your buck in training soft tissues

Hands on Practical Session:

  • Using foam rollers and other implements to manipulate tissue to create the desired responses.
  • How soft tissue work can improve performance aspects and create better training workouts.
  • Structuring the flow of a foam roller series for maximum adaptation.
The whole kitten caboodle only costs $189, and includes a Travel Roller which normally costs $80. I’ve said it before, but if you attend any course or workshop and leave with enough information to help one person decide to train with you or to continue to train with you, it would be worth its’ cost. I guarantee this course will give you more tools, tips and tricks to help more people than you ever thought possible.

This seminar will serve to melt some brains as I will probably help to answer a lot of questions regarding why sometime rolling out the bottom of your foot can help reduce shoulder and neck pain, and how performing a scap slide can improve hip mobility.

June 2 & 3: Spinal Health and Core Training. World Health, Edmonton, AB

The second big event should actually be called “4 Guys Talkin Bout Abz.” That idea got shot down in the round table discussion. Instead, we decided to go with something a little more classy and a lot less creepy:

Spinal Health and Core Training:  An Interdisciplinary Approach for Health, Fitness, Rehabilitation, and Performance

This will be a weekend of epic knowledge bombs from the Muscle Imbalances Revealed: Upper Body coaches, including myself, Rick Kaselj, Jeff Cubos, and Tony Gentilcore. Tony and I have already decided on a super-secret handshake kind of like one thrown down in Predator.

ARVE Error: id and provider shortcodes attributes are mandatory for old shortcodes. It is recommended to switch to new shortcodes that need only url

This seminar will cover a lot of ground and give some very different perspectives into how to train the core for injury prevention, athletic function, and just looking damn hawt while naked. As an added bonus, this will be in my own home club, World Health City Centre in downtown Edmonton, which means you’ll all get to see me on my own turf. This also means you’d better all behave yourselves or you’ll make me look stupid in front of people who have to see me every day!! (Cubos, I’m looking at you right now.)

For a cost of $295, you get two days jam-packed full of awesomeness from 4 of the brightest minds in fitness (well, three plus me. I helped get a free room, what can I say?), and if you register before March 16th at midnight using the promotional code EDMONTON, you can save $100 off the registration price.

Some of my seminars are awesome, while others are merely fantastic. I’m promising everyone right now that these two seminars will be over the top amazing, and you’ll walk away feeling so good with your new levels of knowledge that you’ll be just itching to hit the gym the day after and spread the knowledge love around with a fury of intensity unlike any the world has ever seen before.

Hope to see you there, either one or the other, but preferably both. You can never learn too much, right??
