Stuff You Should Check Out: Sunday Edition

Since I’m teaching a course all weekend, I wanted to share some knowledge with everyone, not simply those who are sitting in chairs and trying not to fall asleep while listening to me drone on about getting squatz and stuff.

McKenzie Method vs. SFMA – Charlie Weingroff

I love looking at the thought processes behind understanding what systems to use when working with someone with pain. I have read a lot about SFMA, McKenzie Method, and even taken courses involving components of each, but the explanation Charlie gives in this post made everything clear as to how they worked, what they meant, and what to do when you have positive tests in each. I’m a big Charlie fan too, so that helps. Plus it’s one of the few posts he’s put up recently that don’t show his workouts, even though those are pretty bad-ass as well.

Is Scapular Stability a Myth? – Mike Robertson

Scapular stability is sort of the golden calf when it comes to dealing with shoulder pain. Everyone knows it’s important, no one knows what it looks like, or how to get it the best, but everyone trains with exercises they feel give it the best shot of occurring. Mike does a great job highlighting what stability is and what it is not, so if you have shoulders, you should check out this article.

That’s it for today. Have a great remainder of your weekend!!!
