I hope everyone had a chance to have some down time and relax this past weekend before heading back to work, school, or whatever you do in September. I spent most of the weekend finishing up some drywall in my basement, which we will be turning into a home gym shortly. I have some rubber flooring on the way, and even ordered a squat rack too.
So while my shoulders and hips got a great workout over the weekend, I missed biking to work since it’s been stupidly cold and rainy the last few days. There was even frost in some parts of the city, and trees with their leaves changing colours and falling. There’s a bank of trees on one side of the neighborhood I live in that all change to red and yellow at this time of year, making it a primo spot for people to take pictures and generally looks awesome.
Alright, enough fall weather talk. Let’s get into some actual good stuff.
1: Workshops
Tis the time of year where I wind up travelling all over the place to teach workshops and this season is no different. I think it could be my most exciting and jam-packed schedule ever, so I’ve got that going for me.
Complete Shoulder & Hip with Tony Gentilcore
We did this one in Edmonton recently, and the feedback we got was awesome, with the only negative being we threw a LOT of stuff at the attendees. If that’s the worst thing we did, I consider it a success. Essentially, we outline everything a trainer, therapist or health practitioner could want to know about how to effectively work with shoulders and hips, lay out our processes for assessment and training, and give attendees a very simplified plan of action that works with anyone they would come in contact with.

Yep, we’re dead sex-ayyyy.

Ruthless Mobility & Advanced Core Training
These two one-day workshops go together like peas and carrots. Like ham and eggs. Like pumpkin spice lattes and Food Babe. Wait, scratch that last one.
Ruthless Mobility outlines mechanisms for how to improve mobility through both active and passive means, how to determine how much mobility you actually have available, and then gives you simple means to use it to help you get all jacked and swole and stuff.
Advanced Core Training gives a full continuum of core training, right from spinal rehab through to advanced speed and reactive ability. Together, this formidable duo will take your training to an entirely different level.
Upcoming dates:
London, UK. October 24-25. This is my only date in Europe for the 2015 season, so get on it while you can. Click HERE for more info & to register.
All workshops provide continuing education credits through the NSCA, and if you’re certified through other organizations you should be able to easily petition for credits with these workshops. Act quickly before space fills up.
#2: Another Men’s Health quote
Last week I put up a post on an article I was able to provide a quote for in Men’s Health. Little did I know I would have a second article come out THAT DAY where I had provided a quote, so I didn’t want it to go unnoticed.
How to Pick The Right Exercise For YOUR Body – Lou Schuler
This article discusses how each person has specific anatomical considerations for getting the most out of your exercises, and how telling everyone to stand with feet shoulder width apart and toes pointing forward is a bad idea for roughly 74% of the population (give or take). It outlines some considerations, plus how to assess yourself and determine what will work best for you and only you.
#3: Debunking the Corrective Exercise Myth – FitInfoClub Podcast
This was a fun podcast I did with Guy Bortz. The funny thing is since Guy lives Down Under and I’m in the middle of nowhere, Alberta, figuring out timezones to meet up was a challenge, but we eventually got it to work on the second try. In this podcast we discussed a wide array of topics, the least of which I figured was corrective exercise, and the biggest impact was my love of cookies.
#4: Randy Orton vs. Superman – Dawn of RKO
I’m admittedly a wrestling fan, and have been since I was a little kid. A few years ago, I got to watch Triple H go through a Wrestlemania prep match and it was one of the 5 greatest events of my life. Similarly in terms of greatness, Randy Orton has been getting featured in custom vines of people falling, where he delivers his signature RKO out of nowhere. This video takes that to an epic new level.

If you’re not a wrestling fan, you can still appreciate how awesome this was.
Alright folks, time for a 12 hour day of training clients to become more and more awesomer. Enjoy the week!!
