I’m in Oslo, Norway at the moment, gearing up to present at the AFPT Personal Trening Conference this weekend. The speaker line up this year includes Alan Aragon, Bret Contreras, Brad Schoenfeld, Eric Helms, James Krieger (aka, El Diablo), Nick Tuminiello, about a dozen other people, and for some reason this guy.
Just sitting in the same room as some of these guys makes you smarter. I’m pretty lucky to have been given an invite to speak and hang out with these folks.
So without further adieu, here’s a bunch of stuff you should check out while I’m overseas.
I have a couple workshops that I’ll be teaching for the remainder of the year: Saskatoon September 10-11, Minneapolis October 15-16 with Tony Gentilcore, and Vancouver October 29-30.

I was approached by Men’s Health to offer some explanation as to how 3 very different individuals, Jujimufu, CJ Cummings, and Devonte Wilson, could all do the exceptional feats they can and whether the average individual could do them as well. Spoiler alert: You’re likely not a 16 year old weightlifting phenom, able to do 100kg overhead splits in 2 chairs, or standing jump out of a pool of water.

This was a fantastic take on different “camps” of training philosophy and the individuals who buy into them 100% while discrediting other forms of training. Each has their own merits and benefits, but to only relegate to one form of training leaves out all of the benefits of other forms of training, as well as the benefits to people who may not want to specific benefits of the original training program. Essentially, different strokes for different folks.
This story about Santo Condorelli should have been a bigger news story than the cupping marks on Michael Phelps. Also, it didn’t involve vandalizing a gas station bathroom.
Lindsay lays out some of the daily habits we do in order to consistently put up with each other. She obviously has the much tougher job and I’m a jerk-face for the most part 😉
Recent new dad to child #2, Pete spits straight fire on how sometimes you have to hire for the right fit into the team, not just the candidate that looks best on paper. If someone is hungry beyond belief and adds so much atmosphere to your team that everyone gravitates to be better as a result, you can teach them the specifics of the job. You can’t teach energy or passion. Also, Rog is a good friend and quality human being.
Alright folks, enjoy the day. Time to go sailing through some fjords.
