Today I have a veritable smorgasbord of stuff to read for you, all from varying sources and stuff like that.
New York Seminar Series Registration is Open
For what could be one of my only trips to the east coast this year in a speaking role, I’m hosting 2 different 1-day seminars over a weekend on the Upper East Side. Early Bird rates end January 31st, and there’s even continuing education credits from the NSCA available for both days.
Yet Another Reason to Include Glute Bridges into Your Program – Tony Gentilcore
If you’re one of those D-bags who bench presses with your feet in the air:
1. Punch yourself in the face. Hard.
2. Read this article and realize that leg drive is necessary (NECCESSARY) to have sufficient stability and neural drive to press up some realistically heavy weights.
Thanks For Including Me On Your Stupid List – John Romaniello
John wrote an excellent piece to give some background on some of the “Best Of” lists that tend to pop up at this time of year. The big difference is whether or not a metric is used and adhered to in order to decide how an individual will be ranked or even included in a list. Some are more personal perspective, and others have hard data to back them up. The data ones typically don’t attest to the skills or knowledge of the individual, just their social reach, whereas the subjective ones are more of a peer-based recognition. Coincidentally, I was named on JMax Fitness’ “Top 40 Fitness Professionals to Follow” this week, and it looks like pretty good company to be a part of. It’s a great example of the subjective style of list.

Here’s a progress pic of the house. We’re hoping to be able to do a walk through for the initial inspection soon.
My wife crushed a back squat PR this week for 3. Last year at her peak this was her 1 rep max, so after being sick for the better part of December with colds and the flu she was pretty stoked to see her progress come along like this. Also, since this is more than body wight and she’s had to spend the better part of the last 10 years recovering from a substantial low back injury, it’s an awesome achievement.
Here’s a picture of the dogs busy being dogs.
Enjoy the Friday and weekend!!
