New Contest Plus some Really Cool News

SO I’ve been playing around with the idea of offering some branded material through the site, such as t-shirts, hoodies, katana swords, you know, stuff like that. I’m getting to the stage where I’m getting ready to put rubber to the road and am hoping to have something ready to roll before Christmas.

Imagine, little Tony waking up all bleary-eyed on Christmas morning, trundling down the stairs into the living room to see what Santa left for him under the tree, only to see that he had a brand-spankin new Somerset Fitness branded T-shirt, complete with awesome graphics and slogan emblazoned all over it, making him the envy of every other gym rat in his local Globo-Gym commercial facility.

But lo, there isn’t all smiles and sunshine this shiny Christmas morn, for little Tony opened his box, peeled away the wrapping paper, and revealed what looked to be a blank t-shirt, with no design or anything cool or remarkable.

Yet.

This is where you come in. I want to find out whom among my readers has the best sense of style. I want to know who has the best sense of what this site is all about, what being excellent really means, and how to be the pimp of the nation while wearing a t-shirt so bad-ass Samuel L. Jackson would say “Damn, muthafucka!! You SCARY!!!!”

SO I’m going to run a little contest to get the ball rolling. Pay attention, cuz this is going to be good.

CONTEST #1: DESIGN

The goal is to create a super-sleek and bad-ass logo that embodies lifting heavy things, being awesome, and either eating steak or mowing my lawn. I’m not even joking here. A lumber jack deadlifting a mountain lion while barbequeing would be fantastic, possibly while starting a barbeque with a model of a spinal column. But classy.

Prize: The winner of the best design will win their choice of either a $250 gift card to Amazon.com or a $250 gift card to iTunes. They will also get to be the first one to get Post Rehab Essentials 2.0 when it’s ready for release, a full month before anyone else can get it.

To enter this one, send me an email with your design ideas HERE. Rough vectors are okay, but I would appreciate seeing something that has some level of polish to it so I can envision it on a t-shirt, tank top, hoodie, or even barbeque cover if needed.

CONTEST #2: SLOGAN

As much as I like “Old School Strength with a New Age Twist,” I’m looking for something new. A tag line should be both a statement and a call to action, so it can be as simple as a single word or a line from your favorite Tarantino movie. What ever it is, it just has to kick incredible amounts of ass and make people say “hell yeah I want to wear that shirt,” appealing to both men and women of course.

Prize: The winner of this contest will also get their choice of a $250 Amazon.com or iTunes gift card and first dibs at Post Rehab Essentials 2.0 before it’s scheduled release (TBA).

To qualify for this one, you simply have to leave a comment with your slogan in the comments section of this blog post here. Keep it classy, keep it realistic, and make sure it kicks incredible amounts of ass. The winner will be chosen based on the slogan that gets the most number of “likes” attached to it, so I don’t have much involvement in the actual voting process. You guys and gals do!! Democracy sure is a crazy thing, right??

CONTEST #3: SHARE-ABILITY

THis is one an easy one for anyone. I want to get a lot of people involved in this contest, even if for the simple sake of seeing what kinds of comments people can come up with. That’s why I want to get as many people as possible to share this post on Facebook or Twitter, where I’m tagged so I can track it (twitter name is @deansomerset), and I’ll pick two people at random to give $50 gift cards to either Amazon.com or iTunes.

So if you have an eye for design, hit me up. If you have a fantastic slogan you’d like to see all over your local gym or training center, leave me a comment, and share the hell out of this post so I can get as many inputs as possible from as many sources as possible to make a decision that will represent the best this site has to offer. The contest will be open until Sunday, August 5th at midnight, so vote early, vote often, and here’s hoping we can make some magic together!!
