Typically following Valentines Day, most people who have set New Years’ Resolutions to get fit have fallen off the wagon. Not only have they fallen off the wagon, they’ve been run over by the next wagon, stomped on by the donkey, and wound up in the wagon rut from the previous year.
Some stats show as many as 70% of people who set a resolution will have given them up within 6 weeks. Other studies show only 20% of those who set a resolution will still be exercising on a regular basis (at least once a week) come December.
I co-wrote and article with Tony Gentilcore, Todd Bumgardner, and Lee Boyce over on BodyBuilding.com a few days ago that talk about our top recommendations for getting back on track or staying on track if you’re in jeopardy of dropping your workout program. Check it out HERE.
To help with keeping you on track, I want to help completely dummy-proof the process. I just started a premium workout group on WeightTraining.com, and if you’re someone who is on the verge of quitting, this is a perfect option for you. There’s pre-made workouts loaded up each month, a community of other members to network with, a monthly fitness challenge to take you outside of your comfort zone, and most importantly, a very simple way to know what you’re supposed to do each time you hit the gym.
The free downloadable WeightTraining.com app makes it incredibly simple to log and track your workouts, with each exercise coming up with a video showing how to do the movement. If you can enter a contact on your calendar, you can track a workout.
If you don’t want to bring a smart phone into the gym with you, you can print off the workouts and bring them in with you.
The workouts are designed in a progressive manner each month, with the first month being a foundational movement training month, working on posture, alignment, and basic movement competency, then progressing into more strength, power hypertrophy, and bad-assery as the month progress. Many training programs exist with just a linear focus of killing you in the name of fitness, versus actually making you better. There’s not really much of a point to losing 10 pounds if you can’t touch your toes from back pain, so I want to make sure you are in your best body possible, and able to do more each month, not just work out more.
If you’re struggling to keep consistent with your workouts, looking to shake things up a bit, or are simply looking for a way to train with me and a program I personally design without moving to Edmonton or forking out a couple hundred bucks a month to train in person or through distance coaching, this is a great option, and all for less cost than 2 cups of coffee a week. For only $29 a month, you can get a sick program that is progressively developmental, full access to the community, challenges, and exclusive updates from me not available anywhere else (not even on this blog or any of my social media outlets). This is the most cost-effective method of having personal coaching you will ever find, and could be the simple spark you need to get back in action and take control of your fitness, once and for all.
