10 Reasons Why You Should Come to Boston

With less than a month until Tony Gentilcore and I put on what will probably go down as one of the top 3 fitness workshops in ever, I wanted to outline a few of the key reasons why you would probably want to attend. It’s going to be July 27th-28th at Cressey Performance in Hudson, Mass, right outside of historic Boston. The early bird rate of $399 is on until Monday morning, at which point it will go up to $499. It’s Canada day on Monday, so I will be sleeping in a little, but I’ll be updating the page pretty much as soon as I wake up, which may be 8, it may be noon, it may even be when Lindsay surprises me with home made pancakes in bed and a foot rub (HINT HINT), so it would be best to get on it before it’s too late.

10. Tony and I Are Kind Of a Big Deal.

Not to brag or anything, but Tony and I have had the honour of being featured in a bunch of different international publications, worked with pro athletes, and are both considered to be pretty smart at things like training and getting people jacked and swole.

Part of the reason why we’re both so well regarded is because we both tend to give away a lot of what we know for free through our blogs and articles for places like T-Nation, Bodybuilding.com, and other big name sites. We didn’t want to put together a workshop where we re-hash a lot of basic yet general information, so instead we’re putting together a workshop where we show you how to be a better trainer, coach, fitness professional, worker-outer, and we’re planning to give you all our gold material.

Essentially, Tony will be giving you a peek behind the curtain as to what makes Cressey Performance so incredibly successful, and I’ll be showing how my assessment process differs from most out there, and how you can use it to get way better training programs for your clients without worrying about how many degrees of dorsiflexion the left big toe or height of the left earlobe may be affecting the shoulder.

9. Guest Speaker

For those who are able to make it out early, we’ve arranged to have a pretty big name celebrity guest speaker spend a little time with everyone on Friday evening, followed by an unstructured workout where people can meet and greet, shake out the cobwebs of travel, and train in Cressey Performance all by ourselves.

Who is the guest speaker? That will be a mystery. I’ll give you a hint. He is conveniently in the area, and happens to be available on relatively short notice to present a short talk at CRESSEY Performance.

8. There will be deadlifts

Tony and I both love deadlifts more than Paula Deen like inappropriate comments. As a result, we’ll be spending a good chunk of time teaching attendants how to go from very regressed forms of hip hinging all the way up to fine tuning the max weight pulls of champions. Who knows, Tony may be so charged up that he finally gets that elusive 600 lb pull he’s been chasing for 2 years. I may even creep closer to 500.

7. This will be Coaching-Heavy and Very Hands-on

But not in a creepy way, cuz that’s just weird. What I mean is we want people who attend to walk away with an immediate understanding of how to take any client and help coach them through common technique issues and sticking points, and also how to know when to dump it and move on to another exercise.

6. Give Aways

There will be many. They will be awesome.

5. Did I mention it’s at Cressey Performance?

slide02Cressey Performance is consistently considered one of the best training facilities in North America, which by itself is ridiculously cool. Along with that, they recently expanded their facility to make it massive and even more of an amazing place to get your train on, which means it’s going to be an awesome environment to not only learn, but get stronger, faster, better, and more amazing in record time.

4. Your Opinion Matters

Considering this workshop will have some amazing attendees (hopefully you too), who are all incredibly well versed in many things training, we wanted to give them a chance to showcase what makes them so awesome, which means we’re going to show how we do things, and then get participants to show how they would do them. This “I go, you go” concept means everyone gets to see a much broader set of experiences than just the two of us, and it also challenges those in attendance to think on their feet a little, much like they would if they had a live body in front of them, and then see if their options are better than ours. Hey, I’m willing to be proven wrong if it makes me better.

3. Continuing Education Credits

We’ve secured CEU’s from the NSCA and are just waiting on the final word from ACE to offer credits for attendees. What this means is you’ll get some sweet bonus points for attending, and manage to maintain your certifications.

2. Pop Culture References Galore

I can’t guarantee Tony won’t mention Optimus Prime or Superman, but I can’t not guarantee it either. There may or may not also be mention of Kim Kardashians incredibly strange choice of baby names as well, plus many, many more references to popular and cult classic movies, 90’s hip hop, action figures, and a lot of other stuff that will probably prove Tony and I have never grown up.

1. Group Workout Lead by Tony and I

We’re giving people the option of attending a small group workout lead by myself and Tony, where we put you through the real-life training sessions we would use with our normal clients, essentially giving you a chance to feel life on the other side of the clip board for a change. Groups are capped at 5 max, which means we’ll have a few different time slots for people depending on how many people sign up. It will be on Monday morning, meaning you won’t have to hold anything back, so make sure you schedule your travel accordingly if you take part in it.

Needless to say, we’ll both bring our A-game and help you walk away with a whole bunch of new tools for your tool box, plus show you how to use them properly. We’re capping enrollment to 30, and have already had 20 people register, so space is becoming limited. If you snooze on this and it sells out, you’re out of luck, so get in now while you can, and before the price goes up on Monday.

Hope to see you there!!!
