Stuff to Check Out: Mid-June Edition

It’s June, and here’s stuff to check out while you’re doing June-type stuff. I don’t know what June-type stuff means to you, but you probably do, so that’s what matters. Even if you don’t know what it means, go figure it out and do some of that. Yeah, that.

Workshops

Complete Shoulder & Hip, Minneapolis, MN October 15-16.

Tony Gentilcore and I bring our world tour back to the States with Movement Minneapolis, recently voted as Most Innovative Gym in America by Men’s Health magazine, playing host to us for the weekend. There may even be cameo appearances by the owners Jen Sinkler and Dave Dellanave, but who knows?

Complete Shoulder & Hip, Vancouver, BC Canada, Octover 29-30

What’s that you say? You just want 2 action-filled days with yours truly and me alone? Well, that’s kind of creepy, but who am I to refuse an offer like that? This workshop willalso feature Dr. Mike Maxwell taking attendees through a Friday intensive into DNS principles for fitness professionals, which will be a fantastic experience for those who haven’t had a chance to experience them yet, and will be a free service for those who attend.

Other Cool Stuff

Lauren’s Journey series – TRAk Athletics website

This is a very cool series to follow from a friend I went to high school with back in Trail, BC. Some might know her older brother, Jason Bay, as a standout MLB player, but you might also know that she has represented Team Canada at multiple Olympics and world championships for softball, and is looking to make it back to the Olympics for Rio this year, all while running a household with 3 young kids, owning a training facility with her husband, coaching clients, and getting in her own training.

If you’ve ever wondered whether some people are just wired different than the rest of the world in terms of how they spend their energy and prioritize what’s important to them, this is a great series to follow. It shows how much hard work goes into a big goal, but also how any goal big enough and important enough can push you forward. Without that goal, you won’t stick with it.

Dean & Lindsay’s European Vacation – Parts 1 through 4 – LindsaySomerset.com

After spending 3 weeks touring around Europe, Lindsay put her thoughts and experiences down on paper, or rather her blog, complete with sketchy bus rides, amazing desserts, ridiculously beautiful architecture, and some of the best pictures we were allowed to take.

Podcast with Yours Truly on Propane Fitness

This was a fun podcast to do, and we covered a lot of ground in a short period of time. If you want the audio version, they have it here, and also a link to the Youtube video if you want to see me stare awkwardly into a webcam.

Fitness Experts Reveal Their Workout Soundtracks – Lift Like a Rockstar

No surprise, there’s a very eclectic number of choices in lifting music, ranging from nothing but the sound of your own excellence to EDM, all the way to Cher and 90’s era rap. I made a cameo here as well.

Pick up the June 2016 issue of Men’s Health to see a short pre-workout shoulder series that can have a big effect on saving your shoulders and making them strong for a long time. No word on whether the workout will save you from the sex robots, though.

Best Facebook Post

Do something nice for someone, even if they can’t repay you. Sometimes being a better person means helping another person.

Best Instagram Pic

It may not be Kate Upton crushing hip thrusts, but not everything can be. Unless your name’s Ben Bruno.

Enjoy the week!!
